교토시 사쿄쿠에 있는 천태종의 절로 엔랴쿠지 절의 탑두 중 하나이다. 888년에 창건되었다. 교토고쇼 황궁에서 보아 동북쪽의 표귀문에 위치하며 방액막이의 신으로 두터운 신앙을 받아왔다. 배전의 지붕 위에는 막대기에 천이나 종이를 끼운 신구인 '고헤이'와 방울을 가진 '마사루'가 안치되어 있다. 본존인 적산대명신은 칠복신 중 하나인 '복록수(福禄寿)'로 여겨지며, '도칠복신'의 하나로 꼽히는 사원이기도 하다. '복록수신 모양의 길흉점'은 외형도 귀여워서 참배객에게 인기가 있다.
