교토시 우쿄쿠 사가에 있는 정토종의 사원. 산의 호칭을 오대산이라 칭하며, 본존은 석가여래이다. '사가 석가당'이라는 이름으로 알려져 있으며, 중세 이후 '융통염불의 수도장'으로도 알려져 있다. '겐지 모노가타리'의 주인공 히카루 겐지의 모델인 미나모토노 도루의 산장 터에 아미타당을 세운 것이 시초이다. 오대산을 순례한 조넨이라는 승려가 송나라에서 모셔온 부처상은 '살아있는 부처'로 불리며 국보로 지정되어 있다. 4월, 5월, 10월, 11월에는 특별 개장되어, 그 이국적인 자태를 확인할 수 있다.
