Niihama Taiko Festival

Along with the Awa Dance Festival of Tokushima Prefecture and Yosakoi Festival of Kochi Prefecture, the legendary Niihama Taiko Festival is ?one of Shikoku's three largest festivals. Giant taiko drum floats, which stand at about 5.4 meters and weighs about three tons, are carried by men known as kakifu. Their stirring parade around town has given the festival another name: The Men's Festival. The beautiful decorative curtains and cushions with golden embroidery which decorate the exquisite taiko drum floats are a must-see.
