Mt. Daisen Summer Opening Festival

This rite of prayer for safety on the mountain is held by Ogamiyama-jinja Shrine every year on the first weekend of June. On Saturday, about 2,000 people bearing torches lit in the holy fire join a Torch Parade, turning the approach to the shrine into a river of fire in a solemn, mysterious spectacle. On Sunday, there is a prayer ceremony for safety on Mt. Daisen's peak, which is filled every year with visiting climbers.
