Kawagoe Festival

Event
Boasting of nearly 400 years of history and tradition, the Kawagoe Festival is a religious rite for the Hikawa-jinja Shrine. Parade floats decorated with intricate dolls proceed through the warehouse lined streets in a stunning spectacle. Highlights include Hikkiawase, fierce musical face-offs between the bands accompanying each float. The evening Hikkiawase is the true climax, as float pullers raise paper lanterns high and dance furiously.
