Hachinohe Sansha Taisai Festival
The Hachinohe Sansha Taisai Festival boasts 300 years of history. In this gorgeous festival, a parade is held featuring portable shrines from Ogami-jinja Shrine, Chojasanshinra-jinja Shrine, and Shinmei-gu Shrine, as well as 27 traditional festival floats decorated in kabuki theater and Japanese legend-related themes. The 10 meter tall, eight meter wide festival floats are truly stunning. At night, the floats are lit up, adding a magical touch to the midsummer night. The festival was registered a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.
