Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori

The Koenji Awa Odori was started in 1957. Today some 10,000 people participate in the event, dancing to the music of flutes, shamisen, and taiko drums in this Tokyo summer tradition. Held in a shopping arcade area, there are also many street stalls and stands which open up for this exciting festival.
