Sendai Tanabata Festival
A traditional event conducted since the time of Date Masamune, founder of Sendai Domain, the Sendai Tanabata Festival is one of the three greatest festivals in the Tohoku region and one of the three greatest Tanabata festivals in Japan. The city is decorated with over 3,000 traditional Tanabata decorations of all sizes, drawing the eyes of visitors. There are also exhibits where visitors can try making Bon festival dance and Tanabata decorations, nighttime decorative lights, fireworks, and many more events.
