Naha Hari

A huge event in Naha City centering around the Hari, a traditional Okinawan boat race held in prayer for maritime safety and bountiful catches across Okinawa and featuring dragon boats and fishing boats called sabani. Hari events are conducted all around Okinawa, but this is the biggest ones. In addition to school and company races, there are also musical and comedic performances, dance contests, sumo wrestling, and hari boat rides for visitors. Numerous stalls selling local dishes also pop up, and each year the event venue bustles with countless visitors.
