Sawara no Taisai Autumn Festival

A traditional event and one of the three greatest parade float festivals in the Kanto region. Accompanied by traditional hayashi music, over a three day period 14 traditional parade floats tour every area of the city. During the festival, young people perform traditional te-odori dances in each area as well as performances of other traditional arts and music. Meanwhile, the parade floats are pulled with much effort to form specific patterns with their movements, such as the circular shape of the hiragana character no, enhancing the festival atmosphere. Local dishes and specialty products are sold at stalls and stands, and each year the city bustles with visitors.
