Asakusa Samba Carnival Parade Contest

Event
First held in 1981, the Asakusa Samba Carnival is one of the largest Samba parades in the country and, for locals, a custom marking the end of summer in Asakusa. As the name implies, the parade is also a contest, and teams of skilled dancers and performers from around the country gather to show off and compete along Umamichi-dori Avenue and Kaminarimon-dori Avenue. The parades many highlights include the colorful costumes, gorgeous parade floats, and the differing, role-base choreographies of the dances.
