Bicchu Takahashi Matsuyama Odori

Event
A huge folk dance event held from August 14 to 16 each year in front of JR Bicchu-Takahashi Station in Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture. Practically the entire population of the city gets involved. During the event, the streets of the city bustle with spectators and dancers. The dance is ancient and said to have been started in 1648 when Mizunoya Katsutaka was lord of Bicchu Matsuyama Domain to pray for good harvests of the five principal grains as well as the success of local merchants.
