Kibun Festival Fireworks

Event
The eminent Edo period merchant Kinokuniya Bunzaemon, was born in the city of Arida in Wakayama Prefecture, and the famous fireworks of the Kibun Festival draw their appellation from an abbreviation of his name. About 2,000 fireworks are launched or set off on riggings on both sides of the Arida River, making for an impressive, must-see sight as they unfold like brightly colored fans over the water. The festival also features events such as a summer karaoke festival and taiko drum performances.
