Tottori Shan-Shan Festival

Event
The Municipal Summer Fireworks Festival is the grand finale for city's largest event, the Tottori Shan-Shan Festival. The name 'shan-shan' is based on onomatopoeia for both the ringing sound of the bells on the dance umbrellas and the boiling sound of water spurting from the many outlying hot springs in Tottori. Approximately 5,000 fireworks illuminate the night sky rhythmically set to music. The original fireworks depicting actual pictures drawn by children in Tottori Prefecture are popular.
