Gaina Fireworks Festival

Event
Gaina' means 'big' or 'huge' in Yonago dialect. True to its name, this festival exhibits the world's largest Niagara Falls type fireworks display (called the Gaina Niagara), recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records. It was the first festival to launch a sanjakudama (36 inch shells) in West Japan, which elicited calls for an encore. With ideas such as placing the spectator venue at the Yonago port, or on a floating barge, fresh innovative grand finales for the Gaina Festival are always in the works.
