Kyushu Fireworks Festival

Event
The Saga Shimbun, Karatsu City, and its tourism association jointly hold this firework display annually for tourism promotion and regional revitalization. It has become a highly popular Karatsu summer tradition. About 6,000 fireworks are launched one after another from off the coast of Karatsu Bay, including 24 inch shells with 500-meter crowns, an impressive 500-meter Niagara cascade, and enormous floating fireworks that rise in a semicircle above the water, painting the summer night sky with Karatsu Castle in the background.
