Koganei Park
Koganei Park is a large urban park that extends into Koganei City, Kodaira City, Nishitokyo City and Musashino City in the Tokyo Metropolis. Within the Park there are grass lawns, groves of trees, an old steam locomotive on static display, tennis courts, etc. In spring, Koganei Park is famous as a great place for viewing the cherry blossom, with around 1,700 cherry trees—from several different varieties, including hill cherry, Sato-zakura cherry, and Yoshino cherry—in flower, and the Park attracts large numbers of cherry blossom enthusiasts every year. The “Sakura-no-sono” garden, which has 430 cherry trees in flower for a period of around one month, is particularly worth seeing, as is the row of cherry trees lining the adjacent Tamagawa Josui canal. The best time to view cherry blossom at Koganei Park is from late March through into mid-April. The “Koganei Sakura Festival” is held in early April, with food-stands, on-stage events etc. for visitors to enjoy. Toilets, shops, and paid parking available.
