Inai no ippon-zakura

Event
A single cherry tree which blooms at the top of a small hill with a view of distant Mt. Iwate. A shrine was once located on the site but was moved to the current location of the Hachimantai City Matsuo Branch Office in 1919. This single cherry tree was left standing after the move, and each year it still blooms with gorgeous blossoms. Widely known as a filming location for movies, large numbers of tourists seeking to enjoy some flower viewing come from in and outside the prefecture on clear days to enjoy the sight of the tree when it blooms towards the end of April. There can be reached by car by driving towards the Hachimantai City Office for approximately three minutes from the Matsuo Hachimantai Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway.
