Akashi Park
This urban prefectural park is at the site of Akashi Castle. Approximately 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees are planted throughout the spacious 55-hectare grounds centered on Gono Pond. It’s been designated one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. The park bustles with visitors who come for cherry blossom viewing during the Akashi Park Cherry Festival held every year in April when the trees are in bloom. Boat rentals are available on Gono Pond, letting visitors view the cherry blossoms from the water at their leisure.
