Nagatoro

In spring, cherry trees across the town of Nagatoro Town in Chichibu County, Saitama Prefecture come into bloom, and Nagatoro has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. During the blooming season from late March to early April, visitors can enjoy the sight of some 3,000 cherry trees in the town, including Yoshino cherries, Kanzan cherries, and weeping cherries. Some of the town’s many highlights include the famed 2.5 kilometer long tunnel of cherry trees along Kita-sakura-dori Street, and the 1.5 kilometer long row of cherry trees along Minami-sakura-dori Street. Other highlights include a natural trail with cherry trees growing on either side, and the weeping cherry tree at the Hozen-ji Temple. The Nagatoro Cherry Blossom Festival is held around the time the blossoms reach their peak, and cherry trees are also lit up at night when in bloom. Toilets, shops and parking available.
