Mt. Ouhira
A 341 meter tall mountain located in Ohirasan Prefectural Natural Park in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture which is renowned for its spectacular views as well as its cherry blossoms in spring. The mountain top offers a sweeping view of the Kanto Plain, and on clear days you can see all the way to Mt. Fuji and the skyscrapers of Tokyo. Each year from early to mid-April, some 4,000 Yoshino and hill cherry trees bloom across the mountain. The mountain has numerous superb flower viewing spots, include a tunnel of cherry trees growing along both sides of a two kilometer long stretch of a sightseeing road. Another of Mt. Ohira ’s many highlights is the 400 years old weeping cherry tree on the grounds of the Taisan-ji Temple at the foot of the mountain. The Mt. Ohira Cherry Blossom Festival is held when the blossoms reach peak bloom. Toilets, shops and parking available.
