Izushi Castle ruins
The ruins of Izushi Castle, once the administrative headquarters of the former Izushi Domain, are located in Izushi Town, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. The site is famous for its sweeping view of the Izushi Town area, which still retains traces of its former castle town glory, and its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. Around late March, Yoshino cherries and double-flowered cherries at the site come into bloom, adding a splash of color to the castle’s stone wall and rebuilt turret. The local Cherry Blossom Festival is held here for almost a month, when the trees are in peak bloom, and during that time a variety of events are held, including a contest to see who can eat the most soba noodles, a local specialty. Toilets available. Nearby municipal paid parking available.
