Kozan-ji Temple
A Soto Buddhist temple located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture known as the location where Takasugi Shinsaku raised his army. Some of the grounds many highlights include a bronze statue of Takasugi Shinsaku and a temple building designated a National Treasure. The temple is also famous destination for cherry blossom viewing in spring. Some 30 Yoshino and other cherry tree varieties decorate the temple with their blossoms, providing visitors with a chance to enjoy a truly vivid flower viewing experience. In most years, the best time to see the blossoms is from early to mid-April. Buildings such as the main temple building and writing hall are only open from 9:00 to 17:00. An entry fee of 300 yen is required. Parking available.
