Genjiyama Park
A park filled with natural beauty and which harnesses the mountain terrain on which it is situated. The park is located in the Genjiyama area in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, so named for its connecting to the “Genji” or Minamoto clan. The park is home to a seated statue of the historic figure Minamoto no Yoritomo and also has a grass lawn as well as a hiking course which leads to Kotoku-in Temple in Kita Kamakura. The park is also a renowned spot for cherry blossom viewing. In spring, some 270 Yoshino cherry and other cherry tree varieties come into beautiful bloom, and the park is visited by large numbers of people seeking to enjoy the sight. The best time to view the blossoms is generally from late March to mid-April. Some of the many highlights of the surrounding area include Kuzuharaoka-jinja Shrine and Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku-jinja Shrine. Toilets available. No parking available.
