Oka Castle Ruins

Oka Castle Ruins are located in Takeda City, Oita Prefecture, and Oka Castle was known as the most impregnable mountain castle and was also the inspiration for the song Kojo-no-tsuki by Rentaro Taki. It has been designated as a National Historic Site and selected as one of Japan’s top 100 castles as well as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots with beautiful cherry blossoms such as Yoshino cherry blossoms. The scenery of the well-known castle site with stone walls is tinted with pale pink by cherry blossoms and is like a real painting. The blossoms come into full bloom from late March to early April every year, and the castle holds a cherry blossom festival. The admission fee is 300 yen for high school students and older and 150 yen for elementary and junior high school students. Parking available.
