Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Located in the Higashiyama Ward of Kyoto City, Kiyomizu-dera Temple is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Kyoto, famous for its three-tiered pagoda (the largest in Japan) and for the “Kiyomizu Stage” platform. In spring, a total of around 1,500 Yoshino and hill cherry trees bloom within the Temple grounds, attracting large numbers of Japanese and international visitors. The views of the cherry blossom from the Okuno-in Hall and from the Kiyomizu Stage are particularly spectacular. During the period from late March to early April when the cherry blossom is at its best, Kiyomizu-dera has specially extended opening hours, enabling visitors to view the magical sight of the illuminated cherry blossom. The Temple is normally open from 06:00 to 18:00 (opening hours are extended until 21:00 during the cherry blossom season). The admission charge is 400 yen for adults and high school students, and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students. Toilets are available, and city pay parking is available nearby.
