Matsue Jozan Park

Event
Matsue Jozan Park is a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing, with visitors able to enjoy the marvelous combination of Matsue Castle (a designated National Treasure) and around 200 cherry trees. The Park is located in the Tonomachi district of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. In spring, the Park is “dyed” pinkish-red with the blossoms of Yoshino, double-flowered cherry and weeping cherry trees; as one of the best places in Shimane Prefecture to see cherry blossom, it receives lots of visitors. The “Castle Festival” is held every year between late March and mid-April. Visitors can enjoy the magical sight of the cherry trees and the Tenshukaku (the main tower of the castle) illuminated by paper lanterns, and there is also a samurai procession and special on-stage events. The Honmaru (main bailey) area is open to visitors from 7:00 to 19:30 (8:30 to 17:00 between October and March), but these opening hours are extended until 21:00 during the “Castle Festival.” Toilets, shops, and parking available.
