Mt. Yoshino (Naka-senbon)
Mt. Yoshino refers to the ridge extending eight kilometers south from the northernmost extremity of Mt. Omine. The mountain is divided into four areas in order of increasing elevation: Shimo-senbon, Naka-senbon, Kami-senbon, and Oku-senbon. The Kimpusen-ji Temple's Zao-do hall, the symbol of Mt. Yoshino, and Yoshimizu Shrine, a World Heritage Site, both stand in the Naka-senbon area. From the grounds of Yoshimizu Shrine, you can get a sweeping view of the fall foliage in the Kami-senbon and Naka-senbon areas. In November, the area around Nakasenbon Park (Ogino Valley) is lit up at night, and visitors can take in the majestic gradations in the colorful leaves.
