Mt. Unzen
Mt. Unzen refers to a collection of eight mountains. There area where Japan's first national park was established, Mt. Unzen is a treasure trove of wild birds and highland plants, and here you can enjoy natural beauty throughout the year. The best time to enjoy the autumn foliage in the area is from late October to early November. The leaves start turning color near the top of the mountain and gradually the change spreads to the plain at its foot. During the peak period, the entire mountain is carpeted in vivid reds and golds, creating picturesque scenery which extends for kilometers.
