Mt. Hikosan
A mountain counted among lists of Japan's top 100 most scenic places and top 200 beautiful mountains, Mt. Hikosan is also considered one of the three mountains most sacred in the Shugendo religion. Here you can enjoy fantastic natural scenery interweaving strange rock formations with giant cedars, including one some 1,200 years old. There are numerous areas on the mountain to enjoy fall foliage, including Hikosan-jingu Shrine's grounds, copper torii gate, and Buzenbo shrine, and each year many people come here to enjoy the seasonal scenery.
