Iyakei Onsen
A hot spring owned and operated by the Hotel Iyaonsen located in the Iya Valley, considered one of Japan's three most secluded locations. The hotel commands views of beautiful Iya and visitors can take in the stunning, steep valley and the Iyagawa River running through it. The waters of the alkaline simple sulfate spring have a high pH level and are said to treat such ailments as nerve pain, rheumatism, wounds, and women's diseases, in addition to promoting beauty and recovery from fatigue. The hotel's outdoor bath, located at the bottom of the valley and constantly replenished from the source spring kakenagashi style, is reachable by cable car, and here visitors can enjoy a relaxing soak while feeling one with nature. The hotel's bathhouse facilities are open to non-guests, as well, and the hotel offers bathhouse plans which include breakfast or lunch. Visitors can also enjoy the area's scenery through hotel tours, such as the artistically illuminated Kazura Bridge tour and a star watching tour.
