Gokurakuji Temple

Temple
The temple is located in Kinosaki Hot Springs and was founded in the Edo period (1603-1868) by Sawan, a high priest from Izushi, and has a dry landscape garden called Seikan-tei, which is bordered by a pathway and is a harmonious blend of variously colored pebbles, gravel, and moss. The temple's main hall was rebuilt after being burned down, but the gate still retains the appearance of its original construction and has been designated a Kinosaki Town cultural property.

    城崎温泉の温泉街の突き当たり、源泉公園の近くにある小さなお寺。特に見どころがあるわけではないが、手入れの行き届いたお庭はきれい。温泉巡りの途中で一休みするのにいい。

    城崎ケーブル近くの臨済宗大徳寺派極楽寺です。枯山水の石庭が素晴らしいです。小さなところですが、綺麗に庭がなされていて、無料で入られます。城崎めぐりの散策にお勧めです。

    城崎温泉街から少し外れたところにあるので観光客は少ないです。山門をくぐると境内の枯山水の石庭「清閑庭」がきれいです。
