Former Matsumoto Residence (The Industry Club of West Japan)

Historical Monument
A historic building that's been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan located in Tobata Ward, Kitakyushu City. The house and guest house were constructed in 1912 by industrialist Kenjiro Matsumoto who operated coal mines and other business ventures. It features an art nouveau western style building as well as a classical Shoin-zukuri Japanese style building. It currently serves as wedding venue and is sometimes free to view as part of special opening events.
