"This Soto Buddhist Bekkaku temple, founded over 1,200 years ago, is today the 12th station on the New Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and is accordingly visited by large numbers of people of all denominations. Known as the ""Haginotera"" (""Bush Clover Temple""), bush clover grows everywhere on the grounds, and in the fall, they explode in a profusion of colorful flowers. The Shuroen (""Bush Clover Dew Garden"") on the temple's grounds, named by the great artist Rosanjin, has been selected for inclusion in the 100 Selections of Osaka Green list."

東光院萩の寺は735年奈良時代に行基によって開かれた古刹です。梅田・中津から100年ほど前、阪急電鉄の敷設に合わせて現在地・豊中にあった別院に寺基を移転しました。行基が植えた供養花の萩を守り続け古くから萩の寺と呼ばれ、現在も秋には3千株の萩が咲き誇ります。明治に廃寺となった大阪東照宮の唯一の継承寺院であり、数々の本尊をまつります。正岡子規や北大路魯山人も親しく同寺を訪れゆかりの句碑や仏像も建てられ...

阪急電鉄宝塚線曽根駅から、改札口をでてスクランブル交差点を右前へ。高架沿いのファミリーマートのところを右ナナメ前に進み、道なりの最初を左にまがり、公園を越える橋を渡った右手にあるお寺です。元々は大阪中津にあったのが新淀川建設で移転してきたとのことですが、なぜ有名な寺なのかは知りません。
