Saimyoji Temple

Temple
This Buddhist temple stands on Prefectural Route 47 in Adako-cho, Toba City. Records state it was built by Hojo Tokiyori, fifth regent of the Kamakura shogunate, and the temple is known for its strong ties to Kamakura. In recent years, the temple holds interesting programs, such as the Tera de Cafe program (advance reservation required), in which you can enjoy a cup of tea while chatting with the head priest.

    観光地ではありませんので、行く必要はないと思います。隣の畔蛸神社は入れますが、このお寺は入ることができません。でも、口コミではお抹茶体験もできると書いてありますので、タイミングが悪かったのかもしれません。

    鳥羽市畔蛸町にある西明寺(さいみょうじ)さんでは、お抹茶の体験ができます。作法は全く知らなくてOK。実はお茶の体験よりも住職の説法がとても面白く、このお話を聞きに、多くの方が訪れます。要予約で一人500円です。希望により、座禅体験もしてくれます。
