Nagamochiya Roho

Japanese Confectionery
This Japanese confectionary shop stands on National Route 1 in Yuraku-cho, Kuwana City. This longstanding establishment was founded in the early Edo period and makes An'ei Mochi rice cakes, which have been loved since ancient times as a local specialty product of the former Tokaido highway post station town of Kuwana-juku. These long pounded mochi rice cakes are stuffed with sweet chunky bean paste and baked; they also come in white and pink varieties. The shop's Kuwana Hamaguri Sable clam shell-shaped cookies, modeled after Kuwana's famous common orient clams, are also popular.
