Geku Shogu
"The main shrine of the Geku outer shrine area of the Ise Jingu shrine, an area which is also known as Toyouke Shrine. Standing at the foot of Mt. Takakura, the shrine is dedicated to Toyouke-Omikami, goddess of industry and the essentials of food, clothing, and shelter. This area and the Naiku inner shrine area were once known as the ""Two Grand Shrines,"" and it had a palace, held rites, and was visited by emperors in the same way as Kotai Shrine (now the Naiku inner shrine area). However, it is said the two areas were not of equal status, and it was Kotai Shrine which was the highest ranking and the center of imperial Shinto shrines. It is now customary for festival rituals to be first held in the Geku outer shrine area, and standard for visitors in turn to first visit the Geku area before proceeding to the Naiku inner shrine area."
