Taisekiji Temple
The head temple of the Nichren Shoshu sect of Buddhism, said to have been built in 1290. The vast nearly 70 hectare site includes a five-story pagoda, Mieido memorial hall, Sammon gate leading to the temple, and more. It was once included as one of the Fuji Gozan, five influential main temples of the Nikko branch which includes Kitayama Honmonji Temple and Koizumi Kuonji Temple. The weeping cherry trees on the approach to the temple and Someiyoshino cherry blossoms in Tokohigamine are known as some of the best cherry blossom viewing locations in the city. Over 5000 cherry blossom trees are planted throughout the grounds which are very crowded with many flower viewers from late March to early April
