Nakano-dori Avenue

Place famous for cherry blossoms
The common name of Tokyo Metropolitan Road Route 420. Running approximately seven kilometers between Yamate-dori Avenue and Kannana-dori Avenue, it connects Sasazuka in Shibuya Ward and Nishi-Ochiai in Shinjuku Ward. The roughly two-kilometer stretch from Nakano Station to Shin-ome Kaido Avenue through Araiyakushi Temple is one of Tokyo's leading cherry blossom spots. About 300 cherry trees are planted along both sides of the road, and at their peak they form an arch of blossoms over the road. Araiyakushi Park is the main venue for the Nakano-dori Sakura Festival, a major event during the period attended by over 100,000 visitors. It features a variety of events including stage performances of singing and hula dancing, as well as a karaoke competition, brass band performance, and a parade.
