Maisaka-shuku Waki-Honjin

This is the site of the only waki-honjin sub-inn for government officials on the former Tokaido road. The Myogaya sub-inn was built in 1838 in the post station town of Maisaka-juku, the 30th station on the Tokaido counting from Edo; the sub-inn's shoin or study building, which has a jodan-no-ma room with a raised floor, still stands today. Maisaka-juku was once the location of the landing for the Imagire Ferry, which connected the post station towns on the east and west sides of the Tokaido. Records state that in the Taisho period (1912-1926), the former sub-inn was used as a government hall. The area's original townscape no longer remains, but after disassembly and repair work conducted in 1997, the sub-inn's main building and other structures were restored and made open to the general public.

人通りが少ない早朝を巡るのが好きなので、まだオープン前でした。外見だけですが、当時の様子を伝えてくれる貴重な建物ですね。
舞阪宿の脇本陣

旧東海道沿いの駐車場を利用して脇本陣など歴史のある所を再確認してきました。脇本陣は何度も行きましたが、色々なことで歴史の再確認できました。ボランティアの方から色々な説明のありがたかったです。本陣跡が残っているところはありますが脇本陣の建物が残っているのは珍しいそうです。大名の泊まった部屋や湯殿や厠はとても立派にできていたようです。２階も見学できますが階段が急で狭いので気を付けて。無料で楽しめる施設...
入場無料で江戸時代へ

近くの新井宿や箱根などと比べると見劣りしてしまいますが、入場無料なのがうれしいです。建物内は江戸時代の佇まいがほぼそのまま。奥の間へ入ると江戸時代にタイムスリップしたみたい。2階へも上がれますが、階段がとても急で手すりもないので注意が必要です。
