Tanaka Castle Shimo-yashiki

Historical Monument
These manor ruins are located in southeast corner of the Tanaka Castle. The castle lord's manor (villa) was established in the garden of the Honda family, who served as Tanaka clan lord in the late Edo period, and was said to be a spot for enjoying the scenery in all four seasons. At the time, it was known as a great place for flower-viewing and moon-viewing, with an artificial hill, a fountain, and a tea house set up. Currently, the entire area of the garden remains are prepared as ruins and a park, with the Tanaka Castle main hall tower, the tea house, and the Chorakuji-mura storehouse being moved and recreated. The articles from the buildings inside the castle still remain today, which is extremely rare, so it has been registered as a Municipal Cultural Property.
