Arai-shuku Hatago Kinokuniya Museum

A historic site located a twelve-minute walk from Araimachi Station or a 30-minute drive from the Mikkabi Interchange, on the left side of National Route 301 while driving west from the Araimachi-ekimae Intersection. Of the twenty or more old-style inns that existed in Araishuku, this one, a purveyor to the Kishu domain (present-day Wakayama Prefecture) has been rebuilt and is now open to the public as a museum. It was rebuilt early in the Meiji Period, but part of it exhibits construction styles that were common in the Edo Period. The city has designated it a Tangible Cultural Property. This valuable building even offers visitors views of landscapes that have changed little since the old days.

新居宿関所とセットの入場券が大変お得です。こちらでは当時の旅籠屋の感じをよく知ることができます。意外に狭くてビックリしました。いろいろと勉強させていただいた場所でした。
紀伊国屋の名前が良い。

紀州藩と縁があり、紀伊国屋を名乗る旅籠になったわけであるが、手入れがしっかりされ、今でも泊まれそうです。うなぎやボラがご馳走で当時の料理が再現されていました。お風呂が真ん中に桶があり、当時は沸かした湯を運んでいたことがわかります。

「新居関所」とセット券で420円。当時の様子がよくわかるように展示されていて楽しく見学できます。台所、お風呂、中庭、2階の客間がみられます。当時の宿の夕食のサンプルもありました。お風呂場には水戸黄門の由美かおるさんの写真がありました。
