This municipal hot spring bathhouse is located about a three-minute drive from downtown Minamitane Town. Bathers can enjoy simple hot springs long known for their health and beauty benefits in the large indoor baths. The water is nonirritating on the skin and has a beautifying exfoliating effect, so weary travelers can refresh themselves while also caring for their skin. It is also said to promote convalescence and recuperation from physical trauma, among other benefits. The well-equipped bathhouse features ultrasonic baths, saunas, family baths, and more. A hot spring swimming pool and walking pool, the island's first, was completed in 2008.

南種子の上中交差点から宇宙センターに向かっていくと坂を下ったところに温泉の看板が見えてきます。行った日は休日の昼中でとても空いていました。男湯でも数人。お客さんは地元のお年寄りが多いです。泉質は残念ながらあまり温泉を感じません、

種子島でロケットの打ち上げ見学をするとき早朝や深夜の打ち上げもあるために徹夜になることもしばしばあります。宿のお風呂に入れない時は、島にいくつかある温泉施設に行くのですが、河内温泉は割と清潔度も高く、値段も安いので好きです。休憩どころも広い畳部屋があるので、風呂上がりにゆっくり休むにも良いですまる。
