Ome Municipal Museum of Provincial History
A five-minute walk from the Kyodo-Hakubutsukan-Iriguchi bus stop and a 15-minute walk from Ome Station. This museum is located on the grounds of Kamanofuchi Park on a piece of land jutting out into the Tama River. The museum researches artefacts and other materials and items concerning the natural environment, history, and folk customs of the area. The museum also adjoins the Former Miyazaki Residence, a designated National Important Cultural Property. The museum holds four special exhibitions a year and also sells illustrated exhibition catalogs. The museum's standing exhibition explores the history of the area and its exhibits include an ancient earthenware cup and pot with spout designated National Important Cultural Properties, and a red suit of Japanese armor designated a National Treasure.
