"This shrine was established in 1369 when Hiroyo Ouchi, a warlord during the Northern and Southern Courts period (1336-1392), prayed for the deity from Kyoto. The vermillion-colored large torii gate makes an impressive sight. The present shrine building was newly built in 1519. It has a roof made of Japanese cypress bark that is still in its original form. Thirteen ""kaerumata"" (sculptures that look like frog's legs) are placed around the main hall, which, along with its unusual and varied design, retains the characteristics of the Muromachi period (1336-1573)."

とても静かで心安らぐ神社でした

ＪＲ山口駅の北側の市街地に、八坂神社がありました。境内も広くて、木々に囲まれていて、訪れる人もほとんどいない、とても静かで心安らぐ神社でした。この神社は、１４世紀に、時のお殿様、大内弘世が京都祇園社より勧請したと伝えられているそうです。ですから「八坂神社」という名前なんですね。

山口市の中心市街地にある龍福寺の駐車場に車を停め、龍福寺とその周辺を歩いてみました。この八坂神社は、竜腹寺の北側に建つ神社です。1369年、大内弘世が京都八坂社から勧請して創建された神社です。大きな朱色の鳥居をくぐり進んで行くと、雰囲気のある本殿がありました。この本殿は、1520年に大内義興が再建したもので、国の重要文化財に指定されています。

山口県山口市にある祇園さま。大内弘世が応安3年（1370年）に京都の祇園神社から勧請した神社で、境内(隣接地かも)には大内氏第28代教弘が築いた築山館の跡地や築山神社がありました。小さいけどしっかりした社殿がありました。本殿は三間社流造、檜皮葺屋根で素敵なものでした。木々が多い自然豊かな場所で普段はとても静かな雰囲気です。はじめ駐車場がどこにあるか見つけられず迷いましたが、朱色の大鳥居でな...
