"This long-established Japanese confectionery shop was founded in 1917. The shop sells traditional confectionery such as ""Yamaguchi Uiro,"" a traditional confectionery representative of Yamaguchi, as well as carefully prepared fresh confectionery and limited-edition products made with select ingredients. The popular Uiro is a representative confectionery characterized by its soft texture and elegant flavor of bracken starch. The elegant flavor and texture reminiscent of the Kyoto of the west is perfect for tea, as well as a gift or a souvenir. Products such as ""Kaiko Manju,"" which is made from Hokkaido azuki bean paste and tsukune potatoes, and ""Hime Mikasa,"" which is wrapped in hand-baked dough with glisteningly cooked granulated bean paste, are also popular."

ういろうといえば名古屋、ではなく福岡に伝来して、小田原辺りまで伝わったものなんだそう。そして、山口もまたういろうの名産地の一つとのこと。柔らかめの、優しい味のういろう、おすすめです！

私ら山口県民には、本多屋は外郎というよりも「外郎だんご」の印象が強い。外郎だんごは団子状の外郎じゃなくて、クルミ入りの求肥にきな粉をまぶした菓子で、県内のお土産物としては人気あったと思う。が、その外郎だんご、20年前に販売終了してたんだそう。全然気づかなかった。で、本多屋は外郎そのものに傾注し始め、今や御堀堂や豆子郎に続くサードウェーブの旗手として、山口外郎の宣伝・拡販に頑張ってます。その...
