A museum located in 2 Chome, Yokoyama, Iwakuni City. It houses valuable historical materials and artwork donated by the Yoshikawa family, the former Iwakuni feudal lords. In addition to a permanent exhibit showcasing the history of Iwakuni, it also holds special exhibits and history lectures. Constructed in 1945, the building is registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property.

戦時中の1945年に完成した石造り風の歴史的建築物です。館内には、吉川家ゆかりの歴史資料、美術品や工芸品などが展示されています。入館は無料なので気軽に見学できます。
岩国の歴史を見られる場所です

特に幕末の歴史を紹介するところだと思います。吉川家の歴史や長州征伐について、ビデオで紹介しており、歴史の勉強になります。明治時代に活躍した岩国出身の人物の紹介もされており、良く歴史がわかります。今度は、ゆっくりとみてみたいと思います。
秀逸な施設

モダンな建築、と思いきや70年以上前、終戦の年の建築です。名が示す通り、岩国の古を徴した施設であり、吉川家ゆかりの品々や近隣の地理、錦帯橋建造の経緯などを窺い知る展示があふれています。庭園の整備も含め、しっかりと管理されており秀逸です。
