A historic building located at 1 Chome, Chofusamurai-machi, Shimonoseki City. The row house was originally attached to the main gate of a residence used by the Chofu clan's Oumamawari officers; it was transferred to its current location and rebuilt. Chugenbeya lattice windows and other features provide the chance to see what high-ranking feudal retainer residences were like in the late Edo period.

長府藩の上級藩士の長屋です

バス停から功山寺や下関市立博物館方面に歩いている途中に有りました。説明書からですが、長府藩馬廻役だった藩士の家の門に付属していた長屋を移設してきたそうです。
一般に開放中で中学生が学習していました。

ホタルの名所の壇具川（だんぐがわ）に沿って建っていた。高杉晋作の挙兵で有名な[功山寺]に向かう途中の左側にあった。長屋は開放されていて外に自転車が数台あり中を覗くと机と椅子があり中学生数名が学習していた。屋敷内には時期的に[吊るし雛]が綺麗に飾られていた。江戸時代の地方の下級武士の生活を垣間見ることができた。
