A museum on the precincts of Yutoku-jinja Shrine, one of Japan's three main Shinto shrines dedicated to the deity Inari. It exhibits Yutoku Inari Shrine treasures as well as local historic and ethnic materials, arts, and crafts. Items you can view at the permanent exhibition include artifacts from Yutokuin Shrine, armor of the former Kashima clan's feudal lords, art swords, ceramics, paintings, and Kashima nishiki fabric. In addition, special exhibits on various themes are held year-round.

ずらっと並んだ鎧兜が圧巻です

祐徳稲荷神社の本殿と、山の一番上にあった奥の院を参拝して、駐車場に向かうと、駐車場横に、祐徳博物館がありました。この博物館は、祐徳稲荷神社所蔵のお宝はもちろんですが、鍋島藩の歴代藩主が用いた鎧兜・美術刀剣などが展示されています。特に、鎧兜は１０体ほど並んでいて、圧巻でした。

祐徳稲荷神社の参拝を終えた私たちは、駐車場のすぐ横にあった祐徳博物館に立ち寄ってみました。博物館の入り口には、鹿島市の特産品である「のごみ人形」と「鹿島錦」が展示されていて、それも含めて興味深く見学できました。館内には、祐徳稲荷神社が所有する宝物の他に、鹿島藩歴代藩主の鎧なども展示されていました。

祐徳稲荷神社を挟んで向かいに有る博物館です。この敷地に車を止めて神社を参拝する方も多いようですね。私のときは地元の陶芸家たちの作品集の展示が有りました。
