Okashi no Kobai (Hakuzan Main Shop)
"This Western confectionary shop was established in 1949. The shop continues to make its signature Homore no Jindaiko as well as a variety of other Japanese- and Western-style confections. Homare no Jindaiko are made with gyuhi soft rice cake enwrapped in sweet Hokkaido azuki bean paste. The popular product has repeatedly won the Honorary President Award in the National Confectionary Exposition. The tasty treats come wrapped in a paper ""can"" resembling a Japanese taiko drum, a special, patented packaging method designed to preserve the vibrant flavor. Other popular products include the Musha-gaeshi, inspired by the musha-gaeshi (warrior-repelling) walls of Kumamoto castle; and the Higo Gojuyonmangoku, jowarian highly sweetened bean paste sandwiched between two thin, crisp wafers."
